Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif would be the chief guest at scholarship distribution ceremony among intelligent and deserving girl and boy students, to be held under the auspices of Punjab Educational Endowment Fund, at Aiwan-e-Iqbal Complex on September 12, 2012. In the ceremony, which is being held in connection with Shahbaz Sharif Scholarship Programme Awareness Campaign, educational scholarships would be distributed among intelligent and deserving students belonging to Lahore division. Under Shahbaz Sharif Scholarship Programme, as many as 40 thousand scholarships, worth two billion rupees, have so far been distributed. Under this programme, for the first time in the history of the country, thousands of intelligent girl and boy students are benefitting, who could not continue their academic activities due to financial constraints. This scholarship programme is the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif with the help of which resource- challenged girl and boy students have been enabled to acquire education. Shahbaz Sharif Scholarship Programme is the biggest academic programme in the world, under which intelligent but resource-less students are being provided necessary patronage. Boy and girl students, belonging to other provinces including Azad Jammu and Kashmir, alongwith Punjab, are also benefitting from this programme, under which intelligent and deserving students are being provided scholarships at secondary, intermediate, graduation and master levels. Under Shahbaz Sharif Scholarship Programme, 90% scholarships are being provided to government schools, while 10% are being provided to low-fee private schools. Furthermore 20% quota has been allocated for orphans, minorities, special persons and children of government servants from grade-1 to grade-4. This programme is unique in its nature, as students do not have to give any applications in this regard, as intelligent boy and girl students are contacted at their homes.
